The Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL) is located in Egham, Surrey, about 30km west of central London. It is a prestigious research-intensive university with a rich history and a stunning campus with a strong research profile, and diverse student community of nearly 13,000 students across arts, humanities and sciences including physics and astronomy. Baader Planetarium were honoured to be chosen to supply and install a substantial upgrade of their old existing telescope - a new PlaneWave CDK17 on an wedge mounted L-500 direct drive mount - which will reside in their 3.8m observatory located on the roof of their physics department’s Tolansky building.
Baader Planetarium ist stolz darauf, ausgewählt worden zu sein, um ein umfangreiches Upgrade ihres alten bestehenden Teleskops zu liefern und zu installieren – ein neues PlaneWave CDK17 auf einer L-500 Direct-Drive-Montierung mit Äquatorialkeil –, das in ihrer 3,8-m-Sternwarte auf dem Dach des Tolansky-Gebäudes der Physikfakultät untergebracht sein wird.
In addition to the telescope the following equipment was also supplied and installed:
- Baader IMP85 for switching between different optical configurations
- Imaging and Photometry: Moravian C3 61000 Pro mono with C1/C3 External Filter Wheel & carousel model with Baader UBVRI 50x50mm filters,
- Spectroscopy: Baader DADOS with 200, 900, 1200 lines/mm gratings with Moravian C2-7000A (spectrum imager) and C0-1500 (slit camera/guider)
- Baader Morpheus complete set for visual use at outreach events
